Terms of use

These terms govern your use of the Sconce app. By installing or using the app, you agree to them.

The app

Sconce is a photo and video caster, provided as-is. It shows photos and videos you already have on your phone on a Chromecast or Google TV device on your own network, or on the phone or tablet screen itself. It keeps your collections on your device and is not a backup or storage service.

What it needs to work

Casting depends on things we do not control: your home network, your Chromecast or Google TV device, and Google's Cast framework and its services. Your phone and your TV must be on the same network and able to reach each other. Some routers deliberately keep devices apart, such as guest networks and similar settings, and casting cannot work through that. Videos are streamed from your phone while they play, so the phone needs to stay awake and connected for as long as a video runs; photos do not.

Licence

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. You may not resell, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the app except where such restriction is prohibited by law.

Purchases

Sconce Pro is an optional one-time purchase made through the store you installed the app from: Google Play or the App Store, priced in your local currency. There is no subscription and nothing to cancel. The purchase is processed by that store under its own terms and is available again on any device signed in to the same store account. If it ever shows as locked, use Restore purchase on the Sconce Pro sheet in the app's Settings. Refunds follow that store's policy: Google Play's refund policy or Apple's.

Your content

The photos, videos, collections and any audio file of your own that you put in Sconce are yours. Sconce does not upload them, and what it shows on a television is a copy of files you chose. You remain responsible for having the right to use and display whatever you cast, including where you cast it.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep it stable and pleasant to use, but we cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other consumer protection law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zone7 Studios Pty Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Where our liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to resupplying the app or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the current version, and using the app after a change means the updated terms apply. You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may end your licence if you break these terms, and we may withdraw an app from the stores or stop updating it. None of this affects the consumer rights you have under law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Nothing here affects any consumer rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
